Seven Things that make a Difference

The new year is almost here. I have found Randy Gage's material to exactly what I have needed to read to understand the tasks required for success in my home business. Here is a part one of a seven part series.

From NetworkMarketingTimes.com

MLM Leadership Report - past issues by Randy Gage

Seven Things that make a Difference This is the first installment in the series I promised you on Seven Things that will make a difference for your business. I recommend that you forward this issue to your team, and encourage them to sign up for their own free subscription at: Network Marketing Times

That way they’ll get every issue, as soon as it comes out. Now let’s get to business:

In the past, we have talked about the skills you must develop to be successful in the network marketing business. And of course we’ve looked at the kinds of actions you must take to move up and achieve rank advancements. Now I’d like to take another approach, and delve into a different area: things.

More specifically, seven things that make a difference for your MLM success.

These aren’t really skills. Some are habits. Some are mindset. And others are simply things that you must use effectively to build a large business.

I suggest that you grade yourself as you reach through them. Be brutally honest and ask yourself if you really use or perform each thing well. Then we’ll add up the score at the end and see what it means to your income. And more importantly, what getting better with more of them will mean to your future income.

Getting Over the Line…

The underlying factor in all these is a concept in the biz we call "getting over the line." Getting someone over the line means helping them to develop the mindset that there is no turning back. They have a rock-solid commitment to the business and your company, and will not quit, no matter what challenges present themselves.

They are in. If the company puts all products on backorder for three months. If their top leader quits. If the company is the recipient of negative publicity on national television. It doesn’t matter, they are in. That’s over the line.

Most people in MLM are grinders. That’s because they work on techniques all the time. The people who build wealth in the business create culture. And that culture is all about getting people over the line.

Using the seven things we’re about to explore will dramatically increase the number of people in your group who get over the line. Today we’ll start with number one, and then explore a different one each week. Here we go:

#1 Posture.

This is a critical thing in your prospecting process. And just as important while working with your team. Posture is a combination of what you believe, how you act, and the confidence you have.

People who are over the line have posture. Those not over the line don’t have it. Posture is about knowing what you really have. You approach people with confidence, because you have no doubts in what you are offering to them.

You don’t approach the business with the attitude of "I hope I don’t get rejected," but instead one of "who can I offer this opportunity to."

People with posture don’t go after the "easy" people who are so desperate for income that they will join anything. The immediately approach the most busy, ambitious, successful people they know. And they do it with confidence. And do it expecting a positive outcome.

They understand that network marketing is the dream business:

• No big investments
• No employees
• No overhead
• Hugh profit margins
• Low stress
• Passive, residual income

So when they think about people they will approach, they look for successful people who understand business. Then they approach those people with posture. They don’t chase after them, or beg and plead for an audience. They simply offer them the opportunity to get involved with something extraordinary. Something far superior to the job or business that person currently has.

The other thing that comes from posture is the ability to recruit BIG. Here’s what I mean. When I joined my company, I did exactly as we just talked about. I went to the most busy, ambitious, successful people I know. I let them know how big the opportunity was, and how big they could be in it.

There were about ten people that I let know that they could produce an income of over $100,000 a month in the business. (By the way, of those ten, seven of them had no network marketing experience! I knew they could make that kind of money because they were intelligent, possessed influence, and have good teaching skills.)

Now here is the key…

Nowadays I am a Triple Diamond Director, earn more than $100,000 a month, and I’m the #1 income earner in the company I work with. But when I started talking to these people I wasn’t even a manager and hadn’t even made my first bonus check!

Do you really get that?

I didn’t wait until I was earning the big bucks to approach them. I didn’t wait until I was earning six figures a month to project how big they could be. I knew what I really had, and I presented it accordingly.

Playing small is not serving you. Being conservative is not serving you. And waiting for success before you approach the really successful people is not serving you.

A Stradivarius violin is still what it is, whether you have learned how to play it or not. A Lamborghini is still ferocious, whether you know how to drive it or not. And network marketing is still the best way in the world for someone with no experience, little capital or a limited education to create true financial freedom.

Even if you just started the business yesterday and haven’t made ten dollars yet, that does not diminish or restrict the potential network marketing has for your prospects. You have the best business opportunity in the world. Start acting like it! And that means posture.

Don’t apologize for approaching people. Recognize what an amazing opportunity you are giving them. Go after people who make more money than you do now, people who have higher education than you do now, and people who have reached higher levels of success than you have yet. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to discover that they are a receptive, attentive, and open-minded audience.

Don’t beg, please or chase after people. Don’t downplay what you have to offer by being meek, wishy washy or an apologizer.

Wear the 60 plus years network marketing has been helping people as your breastplate. Hold the experience of your sponsorship line as your shield. Arm yourself with the confidence that the business has helped hundreds of thousands live a better life. Pick up the phone – right now – and call the toughest prospect on your list. And do it with posture!

Five Essentials to Success in MLM Part II

In my last entry I shared five characteristics successful people use in the network marketing industry. In my opinion, you cannot be successful without them. With them you are in a strong position to achieve your aspirations in this industry.

1. They used their own products or services and could explain why you should use them.

It is much easier sharing a product when you use it yourself. A personal guarantee based on experience is a powerful tool. Everything I use that has proven useful and effective will likely be found the same by others. The same is true for what I have tried and failed with. Spend money on a horrible movie and you will let everyone you know your experience. If your product or service experience exceeds your expectations your enthusiasm is obvious.

2. They had a reason for doing the business and a business plan.

There are more reasons to do a business other than just to make money right now. Many programs I use make money right away but also provide something else I need or want. I find most of the programs online are lead generation programs of one sort or another. The best ones can be called a "Funded Proposal." Most of them cannot be viewed as an investment with immediate and long-term returns. I am always looking for people who are interested in both and that 'seed' takes some time to germinate.

The business network that you build with people with similar goals will benefit you for many years. Some say the money is in the list. I say it is in your relationships with your list. As people come to know, like and trust each other, the ability to take on ever larger dreams becomes inspirational and effortless for everyone.

Zig Ziglar said "Plan your work and work your plan." He also said, "If you don't plan to succeed you plan to fail." A good written business plan, one you are willing to follow, virtually guarantees your success! We have a plan requiring only 15 hours a week. Over half the hours are broken into 15 minute increments enabling anyone to plug into success.

3. They let the tools do the selling.

I have been in sales since sometime around age two. My success was always a function of my abilities and no one could be expected to duplicate my experience and abilities. I had to learn how to allow the systems do the work. Tools are in place to advertise, to market and to sell everything and now I do all of it with no extra effort. Some things really are simple. Discovering that the most successful people never even pitched their own personal prospects was a huge inspiration. There are tools and people around me that do that for me. I do it for them when called on. There is no reason to risk family or personal relationships in this business once you know how to allow people to say no to someone else. Done correctly your family and friends will be some of your best referral sources. MLM is the true win-win business.

4. They were always learning more about their business.

I think this holds true in all aspects of life. Those who stay on top of things, who are always ready to adapt to different challenges and changes, are the ones who make it. You know the ones who have an ease and worry free demeanor. One of my favorite speakers says this business is 90% personal growth and 10% activities. We all have unlimited potential for ever increasing personal development. Do what you do best and learn to delegate the rest has been one of my mantras. Learning how to do your best for the benefit of everyone around you is a great benefit for everyone including you.

5. They stayed in the game long enough to have a chance to succeed.

Patience is a virtue in any business. Think of the exponential growth model. It starts out slow, when patience is required, then all of a sudden, boom! Exponential growth. That's how a network operates. From personal experience, I can tell you that the longer you are involved the broader and more expansive your network will become, until soon you have cash coming in from the farthest reaches of the universe. Persistence is an act of courage in the face of no agreement. Learn to be stubborn in your quest for your dreams.

I am convinced there are keys to success in life. Five of them are listed above. For some, they come naturally. For others, they have to be developed. Either way, they work. They just need a vehicle to turn attributes into assets. Find a group to develop those critical attributes and you will find the success that you work so hard for.

Perhaps you joined MLM for some of the same reasons that I did. I have a knack for networking. I wanted to supplant my primary income. The industry I worked in had a clear transformation coming that did not bode well for my personal income. I was really excited by the comfort of working from home without the issue of a commute. Perhaps you have tried some of the same things that I have done. I would not trade the learning experience away for anything. I know I will accomplish my goals. All of my goals require I do whatever I can for your goals to be accomplished as well.

Five Essentials to Success in MLM

I've been in network marketing for a long time and I have seen a lot. My path was amateur, novice, expert and professional. I've tried different business systems and approaches and I have met with different levels of success. I've had the chance to meet and be taught by some amazing people. Good, honest people who know this industry intimately and who worked hard to get to the top. People, who have made money, are making a lot of money as in millions and millions.

I owe a great deal to these leaders, not just from the things that they taught me, but from my own observations of them. I noticed that all of them have similar characteristics that helped them achieve the kind of success that many of us dream about.

1. They used their own products or services and could explain why anyone should use them. (They were a product of the product.)

2. They had a reason, a huge dream and the proverbial big WHY, for doing the business and a written business plan.

3. They let the tools do the selling. They didn’t even pitch their own prospects personally.

4. They were always learning more about the business.

5. They stayed in the game long enough to have a chance to succeed.

Remaining true to these principles, these people made millions. Do you have those qualities? You do not have to be born with them. Some of them are developed by smart business practices and patience. All of us can develop these characteristics. Those who do are well on their way to achieving their dreams.

My goal is to gain financial and time freedom. I will spend time with my family while obtaining economic independence. I will share my knowledge, experience and success with others.

Here is some of the leader’s information I have found most impactful to me. This is a short list and I am always interested in your recommendations.

Wallace Wattles published “The Science of Getting Rich in 1910.

Napoleon Hill published “Think and Grow Rich” in 1937.

Jim Rohn is quoted and read by everyone.

Bill Harris runs Centerpointe and uses Nobel Prize winners’ technology.

Mike Dillard is the source of Magnetic Sponsoring.

Joe Vitale is a writer and speaker.

Lou Abbott is clear about what works and what doesn’t in MLM.

Ann Sieg is a teacher and coach and her system makes a difference.

James Arthur Ray is another incredible writer and speaker.

Randy Gage is a prosperity coach and someone I spend time with every week.

Jim Francis is from Australia and uses leading edge techniques on mind power.

If you can commit to 15 hours a week I can show you a path to unlimited prosperity. I will give away everything I can to enable you to succeed on your terms. I will send you all the Laws of Success. You have likely heard of the Law of Attraction. There are twelve more. Do you know them?

Leave your info at

In my next blog I will expand on the five areas above.

Iceburner Marketing - Searching for Wealth in a Home Business

Welcome to the first post at Iceburner Marketing. Check back often to see how this grows. This series of posts will have a life of their own and be based on my experiences in my quest for financial freedom for me and dozens of others.

I'm originally from Thief River Falls, Minnesota and I've been involved in MLM for many years. I discovered that with very little effort I could keep records giving me an instant pay raise from my day job. I had taken a H&R Block home study course so I could work assisting people with their taxes. It was clear you need to have a business. In today’s economy you must participate in a home business. If you work it correctly, 15 hours a week will make you rich in the future. Maybe more importantly now it will allow you to take many more deductions that amount to hundreds of extra take home dollars every month starting today. Beam to Tax Reductions now for complete details. You may not believe me but you can believe this. I have spent hours looking at tax code and I noticed that the laws are written to help some and ignore others. Good luck if you are just an employee somewhere.

I have participated in many programs since the late 1980's. I was attracted to health and wellness and joined many pills, potions and lotions programs. Frequently as soon as I was in profit the pay plan would change causing dozens more than usual to leave or the company would disappear entirely. One year of "core" with an Amway Diamond mentor in the early 90's proved to me networking and MLM could work. I didn't want a relationship with the UPS guy though and it made no sense to work 100 hour weeks for less than 20 hours at Burger King getting minimum wage.

Five years ago I found the perfect climate and a dream location to build the house of my dreams. I began working full time from home over 4 years ago. Everything I thought true has proven to be less than. I have put programs into profit but most people do not have my time or skill set. However, I refused to believe it would only work for just me and a few others. I researched for much of 2007 and early 2008 compensation plans, real people making real money working from home and I made some discoveries. I will share them with you in the days ahead. I want to assist and support as many people as I can to be financially free. 2009 is a breakthrough year for me and dozens of others who are looking for freedom.

Welcome to my journey through the world of MLM. It’s been challenging and rewarding so far and I've learned much. Please check back for the next entry in my blog.
